Investor question 8 of 50 · Revenue & growth
“What's your current MRR and growth rate?”
Short answer: the investor is really asking do you know your numbers cold? Answer in three steps: (1) state MRR, ARR and the growth rate over a clear period; (2) say whether growth is accelerating or slowing; (3) be ready to show the monthly series.
What they're really asking
Do you know your numbers cold? Investors rarely care about the question on its own. They're testing whether you know your numbers cold, whether your assumptions are honest, and whether you can explain them simply.
How to answer, step by step
- State MRR, ARR and the growth rate over a clear period.
- Say whether growth is accelerating or slowing.
- Be ready to show the monthly series.
An example answer
MRR is $16,000, so ARR is $192k. That's about 3x up on a year ago.

The answer that loses trust
