Editorial policy
Last updated: 12 January 2026
What we publish can shape real fundraising decisions, so we hold ourselves to clear standards.
Our purpose
To explain startup finance and fundraising clearly and give founders tools to try the numbers themselves. We write for people without a finance background and avoid jargon.
Independence
Editorial decisions are not influenced by advertisers. We don't accept payment to recommend investors, lenders, software or other third-party products. If this ever changes, we will label it clearly on the page.
Accuracy
- Claims are checked against reputable sources where possible, and rules of thumb are labelled as rules of thumb.
- Calculators are tested against hand calculations. See our methodology.
- Examples are labelled as illustrations.
- We don't promise results, and we avoid urgency, hype and guarantees.
Updates and corrections
Articles show their last-updated date. Market norms, terms and benchmarks change, so we review important pages regularly. When we correct a meaningful error, we fix it and add a note. Report one through the contact form.
No personal advice
We provide education only. We don't give personalised financial, investment, tax, accounting or legal advice. See the Disclaimer.
Links and products
Our free pages come from our own kits, and we say so plainly on each page. We point to the kit where it genuinely goes deeper, never with pressure. We don't hide commercial links inside content.
Where our examples come from
Worked numbers come from fictional sample companies in our workbooks. See how we build the numbers.
Use of tools to write
We may use software to help with drafting or editing. Every article is reviewed by a person before publication, and responsibility for the content stays with us.
